CQG // CAST 2.0

CAST is an internal tool at CQG, Inc. It has been around a long time. CQG knows their FCM partners appreciate it as it’s a tremendous value add for provisioning users and managing user risk.

FCMs are some of the most important partners/customers to CQG so we needed to improve CAST to make it more usable, modern and make workflow and monitoring powerful and efficient.

We needed to determine:

  • What’s working now, what’s not?

  • What functionality is needed that is missing?

  • Start with a small amount of functionality, then expand

  • What are things named?

  • How can I find them easily

  • Are things grouped logically

  • How do I navigate around?

  • Where do I find the tools I need?

  • What happens when I click?

  • How can I view more than 1 piece of information at a time?

The new and updated product would need to be able to:

  • Use any browser, any screen size

  • Build it on modern architecture and technologies

Make workflow more efficient by:

  • Eliminating unnecessary navigation

  • Cleaning up naming, hierarchy, amount of content on pages so he doesn’t have to “hunt and peck”

  • Give Tech a consistent interaction model, by establishing clear workflow, first click here, then click here, etc.

  • Maximize screen real estate, not so much blank space.

  • Enable side by side comparison.
